Trying to overcome both teenage years and a life changing condition at the same time, and seeking for happiness, belongingness, and acceptance, pretty much encapsulates Kimberly Akimbo. A well adjusted mix of Comedy and Drama.

Originally Kimberly first first appeared on broadway November 10, 2022. “Kimberly” giving an association of strength and royalty, and “Akimbo” a postion of having the hand on the hip and the elbow turned outward, envisions the challenge Kimberly is facing, and the strength she is building.

Played by Victoria Clark, a highly spoken of Americal Actress and Singer, with major productions includingThe Light in the Piazza, and Caroline, or Change. This role has won multiple awards including the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, Outer Critics Circle Award, and many more.

With Victoria’s knack of casting, David Lindsay-Abaire’s playwright and lyrical genius, and Jessica Stone’s astonishing storytelling - Kimberly was brought to life so beautifully. Origins

Kimberly is a Girl trapped in a 72-year-old elderly lady, and a teen trying to live every day as its the last. After asking a friend about his newborn niece and, And receiving the response “Oh, she’s amazing—she’s like this little old woman trapped in a baby’s body”, David Lindsay-Abaire thought "what a great idea for a Theate".

Kimberly Akimbo is a performance that debuted Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club NYC on February 4, 2003. Starred by Victoria Clark, and Directed by Jessica Stone, well known for his ablity for uniting humor and hard reality.

Story

The story took place in 1999 in suburban New Jersey, a girl called Kimberly struggling with a condition that made her age four and a half times than she actually is. Put in an difficult reality to experience mortality and adolescence simulataniously.

Unlike the rare clinical condition, she is struggling with, Kimberly is rarely the center of attention in her life, in fact, you will see her unselfishly consumed by her family’s irresponsibility, which places her in various emotional burdens including psychological strain, financial struggle, isolation, and the need for belongingness. Highlighting her resilience, empathy, determination, courage, and above all humor.
