The Sound Of Music tickets

If there has ever been one musical that climbs every mountain, sings every beloved song, melts every heart, and ticks all the boxes, it is Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II’s legendary musical, ‘The Sound Of Music’. It is tried and tested; a flawless jewel, a classic from Broadway’s golden era, a production that will continue to glisten up for a long time to come.

Everybody that has ever had a smile on their face when the nuns sang the delightful ‘Maria’, found meaning and encouragement in ‘Climb Ev’ry Mountain’, and fell in love with the iconic song, ‘The Sound of Music’, and even those who are bigger misanthropes than Captain Von Trapp before he meets Maria, will be over the moon with the news we have: ‘The Sound Of Music’ is hot off Broadway, slated to canvass the nation, and will be bringing all things musical and wonderful to Texas soon! That’s right, Austin, you better get ready to swoon, because ‘The Sound Of Music’ is coming to the Bass Concert Hall on Friday 6th February 2026!

Bass Concert Hall

Ever since Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, alongside playwrights Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, created what would be their last musical, ‘The Sound Of Music’ became one of the world’s most renowned stage productions.

No musical can come close to ‘The Sound Of Music’ when it comes to the amount of adored and well-known numbers; a production that can remain as apt and loved for nearly seven decades as ‘The Sound Of Music’ does not exist; and a tale as heart-warming, yet bravely addressing major social issues, is yet to be created.

No other musical has been rekindled as many times, had more performances around the globe, and has been received with as much triumph as ‘The Sound Of Music’. It racked up no less than five Tony Awards, a Theatre World Award, and an Outer Critics Circle Special Award, alongside plenty of nominations. ‘The Sound Of Music’ has also been adapted into a tremendously successful film featuring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, still being enjoyed to this day.

‘The Sound Of Music’, inspired by Maria von Trapp’s ‘The Story of the Trapp Family Singers, follows the tale of Maria, a free-spirited nun, who after being appointed as the governess of the seven children of Captain Georg von Trapp, brings back music and happiness to the family. The family is faced with many troubles - from the imminent Nazi-threat brought about by the Anschluss to the romance brewing between Captain von Trapp - an engaged-to-be-married man, and Maria, who vowed to remain a nun.

There is no doubt that there is plenty to admire about ‘The Sound Of Music’: from the remarkable musical prowess of the all-star, age-defying cast, to the timeless, delightful music that gets stuck in every mind without any effort; from the glorious orchestral delivery to the gorgeous sets that change effortlessly from a grey cathedral to the old Austrian magnificence of the Von Trapp house; from the feel-good tale about overcoming difficulty and celebrated tale that has been teaching the world to sing and fall in love for decades to the highly talented cast that embodies their roles with perfection, masterfully delivers the much-adored music, and steals hearts from the get-go.

They were right: the world is indeed alive with ‘The Sound Of Music’.
