“The moody music and lyrics from the Bob Dylan playbook both define and heighten Conor McPherson’s haunting vision of the Depression… Overall, the morose music captures the bleakness of the period and the down-and-out hopelessness of those Americans who barely lived through it.” - Variety

Named after the superstar's quintessential folk hit, Girl from the North Country made its debut in 2017, opening at The Old Vic before transferring to West End London. The limited run was a big success, stealing three wins from the Laurence Olivier Awards.

The production then reached an American audience at the Public Theatre, New York, in late 2018. Here, it won an acclaimed Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical from the Outer Critics Circle Awards. The following year, the show finally played on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre. Despite the shortened run because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was nominated seven times at the Tony Awards, winning in the Best Orchestrations category.

This 2024, the jukebox musical will arrive at the Bass Concert Hall as a part of its new run of shows. The indoor hall guarantees crowds a truly unforgettable spectacle thanks to its spacious seats, remarkable stage, and cutting-edge theatrical amenities.
